GILGIT, July 28: The union councils of Northern Areas have demanded that the devolution plan should be extended to the six districts of the region. The executive committee of over 280 members of the union councils has passed a unanimous resolution demanding the devolution plan.

The resolution says the allocation of 33 per cent seats for women in the Nothern Areas is a wise and welcome decision, but the funds should also be allocated for development schemes.

It says the union councils in NAs get 23 per cent of the annual development programme (ADP) and demands 25 per cent to ensure completion of uplift plans in the areas.
