Condolence messages sent to India


ISLAMABAD, July 28: President Gen Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Thursday sent separate messages of condolences to their Indian counterparts over the loss of life and property in Maharashtra in rain-related incidents.

In a message addressed to Indian President Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, President Musharraf said: “I am saddened to learn about the tragic loss of life and property caused by the unprecedented torrential rains in Maharashtra.

We pray for the departed souls. Our hearts go out in sympathy to the families of the victims.”

Prime Minister Aziz in his message to Indian Premier Dr Manmohan Singh said: “I have been deeply grieved by the loss of precious lives and property caused by rains in Maharashtra. Our people share the anguish of the victims’ families.”

He added: “On behalf of the government and people of Pakistan, I wish to convey to you our heartfelt condolences.”

The message ended with the note: “May God rest the departed souls in eternal peace and give forbearance to the families of victims to bear this loss.”—QA
