Reconditioning camp next month

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, July 27: A reconditioning camp for Pakistan senior probables will get under way from Aug 15 at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Wednesday. The PCB Director Cricket Operations, Saleem Altaf, said all the details in this respect had been finalized in consultation with national captain Inzamamul Haq and team trainer Murray Stevenson. Inzamam, for long, had asked the cricket board to organize a training camp to keep players fit since he had feared a long respite from the game could result in fitness problems ahead of the Oct 25-Dec 22 home series against England.

Most of the Pakistan squad members have generally rested since their return from the West Indies’ tour in early June. Saleem insisted that a full training camp was impossible as the hot weather could make players unfit, but a reconditioning camp at the NCA could prove more helpful in players maintaining physical fitness. The PCB official added that Bob Woolmer, the Pakistan coach, would also be here before the camp starts.
