‘Accountability must to bring improvement to society’

ISLAMABAD, July 27: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said good governance and improvement in the society can be achieved if accountability is carried out in a fair, transparent and effective manner.

According to a press release issued here on Wednesday, he was talking to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Lt- Gen Munir Hafiz who called on him at the Prime Minister’s House.

The prime minister commended the efforts of the NAB in the recovery and distribution of money to the affected persons of cooperative scams.

He said corruption could be eliminated by carrying out transparent policies, reducing interaction between government officials and the common man, deregulation, transparency and redesigning process.

Mr Aziz said there was a need to end the NoC culture, besides holding people responsible for their actions.

The NAB chairman apprised the prime minister of various measures taken by the bureau to reduce corruption.
