India tests short-range missile

BHUBANESWAR (India), July 26: India on Tuesday successfully test-fired a short-range, surface-to-air missile from a remote range in eastern Orissa state, defence ministry sources said. The Trishul missile was fired at 11:58am (11.28am PST) from the testing site at Chandipur, the sources said. Powered by a two-stage solid propellant system and fitted with a 5.5kg fragmented warhead, the missile achieved a target range of nine kilometres, the sources said.—AFP
