FAISALABAD, July 26: The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission would establish five more medical centres in the country and train the staff of other health institutions about nuclear medicines and methods.

This was stated by Dr Kausar Abdullah Malik, PAEC member (administration) while speaking to the participants in a MoU signing ceremony between the PAEC and the Government College for Paramedics, Faisalabad, here on Tuesday.

He said the PAEC would try its best to transfer knowledge about nuclear medicines to the younger generation, especially the students of medical institutions, so that they could serve the nation.

He said these five new centres would be set up in Nawab Shah, Gujranwala, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu and Swat to enhance the net of nuclear medicines and health care through this system.

He said the PAEC would provide help and training about nuclear medicines to the students of paramedics colleges and medical institutions and the qualified persons would be deputed in the PAEC medical centres.

Dr Malik said at present 13 medical centres were functioning in Faisalabad, Lahore, Islamabad, Larkana, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta and other cities.

He said under the new plan, the students would be given one-year diploma and later they would complete their one-year physical and technical programmes in the nuclear medical centres of the PAEC.

He said at present youth having simple education were being employed for the technical jobs in the medical centres of the government due which both the patients and doctors had been facing problems. A comprehensive campaign would be launched to upgrade and modernize the existing infrastructure of the medical institutions and PAEC would play its role in this regard.
