SWABI, July 26: The Awami National Party (ANP) has allowed its candidates to enter into alliances at the level of union councils with like-minded groups or political parties, keeping in mind advantages and disadvantages of such accords.
This was stated by the party leaders on Tuesday while discussing plans for the forthcoming polls in the district. Party sources told Dawn that the leaders wanted to win the election and also district nazim’s post. The district president Haji Rehmanullah, general secretary Aman Khan and all other leaders attended the meeting.
The sources said they leaders claimed that ANP was the only party whose candidates were contesting the upcoming local body election on all 55 union councils seats of the district.
About differences between the former district nazim Jehanzeb Khan’s group and Ghulam Hasan’s supporters, the sources said it was part of democratic approach and such incidents occurred in the party politics. However, some of the key leaders said that different between the two groups still persisted and the district leaders had failed to resolve it. Both Khan and Hasan clashed and traded accusations over four days back.
The sources said except the ANP none of the political parties Had enough network to contest on all union councils.
