KARACHI: Power plant project reviewed

KARACHI, July 26: A meeting presided over by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad on Tuesday reviewed the proposed 35-mw power plant of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB).

The power plant would be set up at Dhabeji and would ensure reliable and uninterrupted electricity supply at economical rates to the installation of the KWSB there.

The governor said that after a detailed review, the project should be placed before the cabinet for approval.

He hoped that it would help in better water supply and greatly facilitate future water supply projects like the K-III and K-IV.

The project would be completed through foreign investment at a cost of $37.216 million.

After the start of work, the project would be completed in 21 months and provide additional nine megawatts electricity for future water supply projects.

Provincial Minister for Planning and Development Shoaib Bukhari, Provincial Minister for Industries Adil Siddiqui, Adviser for Local Bodies Waseem Akhtar, Secretary Law Ghulam Nabi Shah, Secretary Finance Malik Israr, DCO Fazalur Rehman, KWSB Managing Director Brig Iftikhar Haider and other were present.

Truck stand: Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad ordered that the proposed truck stand near Northern Bypass should be activated by December.

Presiding over a meeting at the Governor’s House, he asked the city government caretaker to present a master plan in that regard in 10 days.

Ibad said the proposed truck stand on 500 acres should be developed on modern lines and equipped with necessary facilities.—PPI
