Views sought on taxation measures

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, July 26: The Central Board of Revenue has invited representatives of all chambers of commerce and industry and trade associations for seeking their suggestions and views on the taxation measures announced in the budget 2005-06. An official said on Tuesday that CBR Chairman M. Abdullah Yousuf would meet the trade bodies’ representatives on August 9 to take them into confidence on the measures taken for the facilitation and promotion of trade in the budget.

The official said the CBR chairman would also seek help from the chambers’ officials to help tax officials in tapping potential taxpayers who were not currently in the tax net. The CBR chairman would also listen to the problems of businessmen which were creating hurdles in the smooth flow of trade.

Similarly, various proposals would come under discussion for enhancement of the tax base to meet the revenue target of Rs690 billion set for the current fiscal year, added the official.
