KARACHI, July 25: Sindh governor Dr Ishratul Ibad on Monday gave seven days to TMOs of all the 18 Towns of Karachi to ensure cleaning of all main roads, major secondary link roads and internal roads, along with lifting and removal of garbage and maintenance of street-lights.

“From Monday next, I will personally visit various towns and see how far my directives have been complied with”, he told the TMOs at a meeting held at Governor House.

Among others, the meeting was attended by Advisor for Local Government’s Waseem Akhtar, Additional Chief Secretary Local Government, Mohammed Saleem Khan and Administrator City Government, Fazlur Rehman.

The Governor took serious notice of growing insanitation in the city with garbage dumps piling up everywhere.

“I would not like to listen to any excuses about machinery or staff, but I would like to see things visible”, he said.

Mr Ibad said each town should set up its complaint centre and inform people about the centre with proper publicity of its telephone number to enable the people to lodge their complaints in respect of littering of garbage, insanitation, defective street-lights etc. He asked the TMOs to work round-the-clock and show the results.

It is an essential duty which should not be taken lightly, he emphasized He cautioned that if they failed to show the results, then action will be taken.—APP
