KARACHI: Workshop for trainers of new women councillors


KARACHI, July 25: Under the ‘Women Political School, Sindh’, a joint project of the UNDP, Norwegian embassy and government of Pakistan, preparations have been started for the training of women councillors to be elected in the upcoming polls.

For this purpose, firstly, the trainers/lead mentors (LMs) and research analysts (RAs) got oriented about their future role and functions at three workshops already held between March and June.

Secondly, training of trainers/lead mentors/RAs (selected during the previous project ‘W3P’) a three-day workshop on Project Design and Management started at Nipa here on Monday.

A total of 30 LMs and RAs are participating in this training. The objective of the training is to give the participants gender orientation in relation to development planning; and enable them to understand the aspects of the preparation of project proposals. Yahyah Waliullah, Secretary Women Development Department, and Mohammad Zakir, Director-General Nipa, Karachi, inaugurated the training.—PPI
