PESHAWAR, July 24: The World Health Organization (WHO) is developing a surveillance system in Pakistan for sexually transmitted infections, an official say. The world body has hired a consultant, who is on a visit to Pakistan to develop guidelines for establishing the system in all provinces, besides AJK and Islamabad.
Consultant Ivana Bozicevic, who works at the Public and Environment Research Unit, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicines, London, has been given the task to take stock of the available facilities to treat these cases at the public health outlets and devise guidelines for the National AIDS Control Programme (NACP).
