CEC urged to take notice of kidnappings

MITHI, July 24: Dr Mahesh Kumar Malani, president of the People’s Party Parliamentarian, Tharparkar, has urged the chief election commissioner to take notice of kidnapping of a number of PPP activists in Tharparkar by people of the Arbab group over the past two days.

In a press statement issued here on Sunday, Dr Malani alleged that influential local people had kidnapped candidates of the ADP.

He said they include candidates for the position of nazim and naib nazim of the Saringiar union council, Chhachhro taluka, Motumal and Gyanchand Meghwar along with eight others on Saturday when they were going for the scrutiny of their nomination papers.

Apart from it, Dodo Bujeer, candidate for the post of naib nazim, UC Islamkot and Essa Lund, proposer of Umer Lund, aspiring for UC nazim of Bhitaro, were also kidnapped by Arbab’s men on Sunday.

Dr Malani appealed to the CEC to take notice of alleged atrocities of the Arbab group who are kidnapping the Awam Dost Panel’s candidates in Thar to deprive them of the right to contest LB election against Arbab-backed candidates, the press release concluded.
