ISLAMABAD, July 24: The Election Commission of Pakistan has facilitated the local government candidates to use both the computerized and the old national identity cards for filing nomination papers.

Acting Chief Election Commissioner Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar has directed returning officers to accept both the new and the old national identity cards at the time of filing and scrutiny of the nomination papers for the local government elections-2005.

Election Commission Secretary Kanwar Mohammad Dilshad said: “The permission has been granted to facilitate candidates and they may produce either the Computerized National Identity Card or the old national identity card before the returning officers at the time of filing of nomination papers or scrutiny thereof.”
