HYDERABAD: Protest against arrest of activists

Dawn Report

HYDERABAD, July 24: Women activists of the Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz staged a demonstration outside the press club here on Sunday in protest against detention of party leaders.

The demonstration was held under the aegis of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz to express solidarity with the JSMM.

Speaking on the occasion, Fouzia Saharan, wife of the jailed nationalist leader Ghulam Nabi Saharan, said the state oppression could not break the spirit of the activists who were fighting for the emancipation of Sindh.

She said her husband and other leaders were not agents of the RAW as dubbed by the government but were the followers of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.

Shama Gul, Sagar Hanif Burdi, Ghulam Rasool Channar, Dr Zulfiqar and Qasim Soomro also spoke on the occasion.

They said the operation launched by the government against the JSMM was aimed at crushing the nationalist movement in Sindh.

They said whatever the consequences, the people of Sindh would follow the philosophy of Saeen G.M. Syed.

SHIKARPUR: JSQM activists observed a token hunger strike at the Mirani Park here on Sunday to protest against the arrest of JSQM and Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz workers.

Aslam Pathan, Abdul Sattar Kaladi, Nadeem Solangi and 30 other activists participated in hunger strike.

They demanded early release of arrested workers in Hyderabad and other places.

KHAIRPUR: JSQM: Activists of the JSQM staged a demonstration against detention and torture of JSQM workers at Chhatti chowk on Sunday.

JSQM district president Amjad Mahessar led the protesters.

The JSQM leader told reporters that enemies of Sindh were working under the guidance of the government to damage Sindh.

They demanded immediate release of the JSQM workers.
