KARACHI, July 22: Ahsan Khan hammered an unbeaten 97 and spinner Junaid Ilyas bagged five wickets to steer Zone-II Whites into the final of KCCA Inter-zonal under-15 cricket championship beating Zone-III Whites by nine wickets at KCCA Stadium on Thursday. Now in final, Zone-II will take on Zone-VI Whites, which beat Zone-IV Whites by identical margin with leg spinner Azhar Shah taking six wickets in the other semifinal at TMC ground.
In the first semifinal Zone-III Whites were restricted to 188 for eight wickets in 50 overs.
Bilal Munir smashed a brilliant 79 with eight boundaries. Junaid captured five wickets for 42 runs with his off-spin. Zone-II Whites in reply romped home for the loss of just one wicket in 31st over.
Ahsan Khan was unlucky to finish three short of coveted three figures, hitting eight boundaries in his unbeaten 97.
Openers Ahsan and Hamza Ishtique gave their team a flying start of 144 runs to set up an easy win.
Azhar Shah played a key role in Zone-VI Whites’ five wickets success against Zone-IV Whites, by grabbing a rich haul of six wickets for 27 runs. Zone-VI Whites batting first were dismissed for 109 in 49 overs.
Zone-VI Whites achieved the target in 41 overs for the loss of five wicket.
Azhar Shah made 30 with four boundaries following his excellent show with the leather.
