Hate literature must be curbed: CM

By Our Correspondent

HYDERABAD, July 22: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that nowhere in Sindh any organization was imparting jihad training to people, adding that only extremist elements were being taken to task through an operation launched by the federal government. He was talking to newsmen at the residence of Khair Mohammad Khokhar here on Thursday. Mr Khokhar who hails from Tando Allahyar, has offered support to the PML in the local body polls in the district.

MPA Dr Irfan Gul Magsi was present on the occasion.

The chief minister visited the residence of Dr Zulfikar Yousfani, who has also supported PML-backed candidates in the LB polls in Tando Allahyar.

Referring to Waseem Akhtar’s statement regarding patronage being given to seminaries by Jamat-i-Islami in Karachi, he said that jihadi training was not being imparted anywhere in Sindh and no such direct allegation could be levelled against anyone in this respect.

He said that publication organisations needed to be regulated with regards to material published by them.

He said that the government did not put a ban on any publication organisation houses by ensuring full freedom of expression.

However, he said, these organisation must publish material in accordance with certain rules.

He maintained that action against extremists had been contemplated since a long time ago by the federal government in order to ban literature based on hatred and said that only extremists were being taken to task.

He further said that because of terrorist and extremist elements, Pakistan was facing difficulties in the comity of nations.

He said that murder of a single individual was the murder of the entire humanity. He said that support of Khair Mohammad Khokhar would be very vital for the PML and the ruling party now had no contest against PPP in Tando Allahyar district. He said that in the past people used to join PPP but now they were joining PML and aspiring to get tickets for the local body polls.

He added that that the chief minister was always a political man and he was responsible to look after the political affairs. Thus, he said, it was his right to use helicopter and circuit house because both these things fall under his protocol and added that past chief ministers did utilise them for their own political activities.

Meanwhile, welcoming leaders of different political groups at the circuit house here on Thursday night, he said the PML was the founder of Pakistan and it was committed to serve the people.

He said the entry of new leaders in the field of the PML would strengthen the party.

He called upon the people to elect honest, sincere and selfless candidates in the local body elections in their own interest.
