Breach floods Garjakh localities

GUJRANWALA, July 22: A number of residential colonies of Garjakh locality were flooded when a 90-foot wide breach occurred in a drain on Friday. The drain passes through the city and its dyke developed crack due to water pressure and defective construction. Senior Wasa officers reached the spot and plugged the drain, while standing water was being pumped out from the colonies.

The Wasa managing director ordered an inquiry into the breach and warned that stern action would be taken against those found guilty.

DISMISSED: Two teachers of the Government Girls Primary Schools of Ghari Naushera Virkan and Kotra Kamoki were dismissed from service by the district education officer for absence from duty. Fehmida and Shabnam Riaz were absent from their duty without any information.
