SHEIKHUPURA, July 22: Subscribers of cell phone companies and the PTCL in Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib experienced hours of inconvenience when the optic fiber system developed a fault on Friday. The system developed a fault when the main cable laid on the Lahore-Sheikhupura Road was allegedly cut by an FWO worker during construction. The Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib districts were cut off from other cities for eight hours.
The disconnection landed businessmen in particular in a great difficulty.
Divisional Engineer Pervez Ashraf and OFS official Muhammad Mujahid told this correspondent that the fault caused by the FWO staff was removed after some time.
CRUSHED: Shahnaz was crushed under the wheels of a speedy truck near Machrala Stop in the jurisdiction of Bhikhi police on Friday, when she was crossing the road.
The truck driver drove away along with his vehicle.
In another accident, a Lahore-bound wagon hit an auto rickshaw on the Sheikhupura-Lahore road near motorway bridge in the jurisdiction of Factory Area police station, as a result of which the rickshaw rider was killed on the spot.
BULLET INJURY: In Jamil Town, 12-year-old Shahid Sattar suffered injuries when a stray bullet fired in jubilation at a marriage ceremony hit him.
Police said Salim, Ijaz and others fired shots in the air and a bullet hit Shahid.
The injured boy was shifted to the Mayo Hospital, Lahore.
CASE REGISTERED: The Bhikhi police have registered a case against two policemen when they were busy collecting money illegally from private vehicles on the Faisalabad Road near by-pass on Friday.
Sub-Inspector Yar Muhammad and Constable Shahid Ali were caught red-handed by the Sheikhupura DPO who ordered Bhikhi police to register a case against them.
