SUKKUR, July 21: In connection with a crackdown on banned extremist organizations, a high-level meeting was held here on Thursday. Sukkur regional police officer Niaz Siddiqui presided over the meeting which was attended by DPOs and other police officers of 10 districts. The meeting asked intelligence agencies and the criminal investigation department to provide a list of office-bearers of banned and active militant organizations so that they could be arrested.

It decided to intensify the crackdown on such organizations according to directives of the federal government and submit a progress report to the Sindh home department.

The meeting was told that the central leadership and workers of the organizations had gone underground and police were putting pressure on their relatives to hand them over to police.
