ISLAMABAD, July 19: Acting Chief Election Commissioner Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar asked political parties to file their statements of accounts for 2004-05 fiscal by August 29. In an announcement on Tuesday, the acting CEC said that under Article 13 of the Political Parties Order (PPO) 2002, every political party was required to submit its financial statements within 60 days after close of each financial year.

A consolidated statement of accounts, duly audited by a Chartered Accountant, should consists of annual income and expenses, sources of party’s funds and its assets and liabilities. The statement should accompany a certificate, signed by leader of the concerned party, that no funds from any source prohibited under the PPO-2002 were received by the party and that the statement is an accurate account of the financial position of the party.

The statement of accounts should be submitted through Form-I, available free of cost with the Election Commission (EC) Secretariat Islamabad and the offices of the provincial election commissioners.

The statement should be delivered to the Secretary EC through an office bearer of the party, duly authorized by the party leader.

The EC would not accept any statement dispatched by post or through fax, e-mail, courier service or any other mode.
