By Zahiruddin

CHITRAL, July 19: MNA Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali has said the valleys of Brep, Garam Chashma and Arkari have been worst hit by floods because of the melting of glaciers and people are living in a miserable condition awaiting relief. Talking to Dawn after taking an aerial view of the affected valleys, he said that the sliding of glacier in Brep had destroyed 73 houses, one government high school, a primary school and road communication system.

He said anticipating more glacier erosion people have been evacuated and were living under the open sky. He added that the village had been hit by famine and the outbreak of epidemic was imminent.

Maulana Chitrali said that the valleys of Garam Chashma and Arkari had been inundated by floods and the road network had collapsed completely. The canals had been damaged.

He said that nearly 11 suspension bridges had been swept away by the floods and the Izh village near Garam Chashma was inundated for the last ten days.
