KKH opened to traffic

By Our Correspondent

GILGIT, July 19: The Frontier Works Organization (FWO) has restored traffic on the Karakoram Highway (KKH) which was blocked by landslides near the Pakistan border town of Sust, 150kms north of here. Traders said hundreds of trucks and containers were stuck at the Chinese side of the border.

The FWO had reopened the Gilgit-Skardu road to traffic on Monday.

The FWO said the Gilgit-Astore road could not be restored as the rising river and flood water were eroding the road.
