KARACHI, July 19: The Sindh High Court on Tuesday ordered production of detainees, allegedly arrested by the intelligence agencies in Khipro last year. SHC’s division bench, comprising Justice Mohammad Mujeebullah Siddiqui and Justice Zia Pervaiz, was hearing a petition by Hameed, challenging the detention of his three nephews, Faisal, Akbar and Allah Rakhio.
Faisal Aresar and Allah Rakhio, who were produced before the court on a previous hearing, could not be produced due to some misunderstanding, the court was told by the government law officer.
The court ordered their production on the next date of hearing.
Petitioner’s counsel Saleem Samoo alleged that Mohammad Akbar Aresar was still in the custody of Commander-303, intelligence battalion in Malir.
Standing counsel Faisal Arab said he was not in a position to comment and sought time to submit a statement from the concerned authorities.
The court, adjourning the matter, directed the federal and provincial law officers to file a definite statement with regard to whereabouts of Mohammad Akbar.
Meanwhile, the same court dismissed the application of PSO official, Hasan Raza, against his three months conviction under the NAB Ordinance.
Hasan Raza was a coaccused in a reference against PSO finance manager, Iqbal Turabi and others. He was sentenced to five years on corruption charges and three months under Section 31-A of the NAB Ordinance by the Accountability Court in Karachi. The superior court also upheld his conviction.—PPI
