KARACHI, July 19: A division bench of Sindh High Court, comprising Justice Mohammad Mujeebullah Siddiqui and Justice Zia Pervez, on Tuesday issued notice to PIA in a case filed by a dozen flight engineers. Ahad Alvi and 11 other engineers, moving the court through their counsel, Shabbir Ahmed Awan, submitted that after the sale of A-300, the PIA assured the flight engineers that they would be trained for maintenance of B-747 aeroplanes and would be promoted after completion of their training.

A first batch of 12 engineers was sent for training while the petitioners were to be sent for training from June. The delay was designed to ground the remaining engineers, the petitioners apprehended. The bench, after hearing the counsel for the petitioner, ordered maintenance of status quo while issuing notice to PIA.—APP
