ISLAMABAD, July 17: The government on Saturday signed an agreement with the World Bank under which International Development Agency (IDA) will provide $100 million for Punjab’s education sector for the period of one year.

Economic Affairs Division Secretary Khalid Saeed signed the legal documents on behalf of the federal government while World Bank Country Director John Wall represented the IDA.

Punjab Education Secretary Javed Aslam signed the project agreement.

The project, ‘Punjab Education Development Policy Credit’, aims at initiating far-reaching reforms in the education sectors, increasing enrolment in government schools, teachers training, community participation in monitoring and management of education-related services, stipends and scholarship programmes.—PPI
