SWABI, July 16: The district revenue officer (DRO) has suspended the services of three newly-appointed patwaris four days after they joined their duties, sources said. Sources in the revenue department said that Islamzeb, Kamran Khan and Akbar were appointed as patwaris on July 8, but they were suspended on July 12 on the orders of higher authorities.
The patwaris were suspended by the provincial director land record, the sources said, adding they could not be terminated from service as they had already assumed duty.
They were suspended after four days of their appointment, the officials said. When contacted, no revenue official was in a position to give reason for their suspension.
However, a senior revenue officer told Dawn that the services of the patwaris would be restored after July 30.
Insiders said that the list of seniority of candidates had been violated during the appointments of the patwaris.
The department wanted to keep the appointments secret, the sources said, adding it was also not known where and when the tests and interviews of the candidates had been held.
