Musharraf cancels Narowal visit

NAROWAL, July 16: The inauguration of the Sughra Shafi Medical Complex was postponed on Saturday after President Gen Pervez Musharraf cancelled his visit at the last moment. The president was scheduled to visit Narowal on the invitation of Abrarul Haq, the founder of the Sahara for Life Trust, but he cancelled his tour owing to bad weather.

However, Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool and Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi visited the district and talked to a disappointed gathering.

People were expecting that President Musharraf would announce provision of Sui gas facility for Narowal and declare the district a tax-free zone, besides announcing an agriculture development package. The governor and the chief minister did not announce any package.

They said the government was making efforts to facilitate people in all spheres of life, especially in the health sector.
