PCB official briefs ICA clubs

ISLAMABAD, July 15: Javed Zaman, the head of Pakistan Cricket Board’s Election Commission on Friday briefed the presidents of clubs given right of vote for Saturday’s elections of Islamabad Cricket Association (ICA).

The presidents of 23 clubs out of a total 24 which have voting rights were in attendance and were briefed on the election procedures.

Undertakings were also sought from the candidates that they will not go to court over election results and will also not give out press statements. PCB coordinator Muhammad Kashif was also present on the occasion.

Nominations of only three candidates had been filed till late Friday evening with Shakil Shaikh of Al-Fateh Club running for president and Irfan Manzur contesting for the post of secretary. Raja Sakhi Muhammad is in the run for the treasurer’s slot.

Javed told Dawn that nominations could still be filed till Saturday morning but the time for appeals had now lapsed.

The clubs which have a right to vote are: Alfateh (President Shakil Shaikh), Al-Muslim (Irfan Manzur), All Youngstars (Sanaur Rehman), Asif Memorial (Ch. Muhammad Shafiq), Azam (Amir Malik), Classic (Usman Saeed), CRA Community (Pervez Azhar), Diamond (Zubair Shaikh), Essco (Khalid Mahmood), Hasan Memorial (Hassan Asghar), Imran Memorial (Ch. Waseem), King’s Gymkhana (SA Khan), Lucky Star (Khawaja Abdul Qayyum), Majid Memorial (Muhammad Taj Khan), Mehran (Wasiullah Khan), Millat (Syed Ibrar Ali Rizvi), Muslim (Ajmal Khan Sabir), Model Town Gymkhana (Shakeel Akhtar), National (Shabbir Ahmed), Noorpur (Tariq Awan), Punjab (M. Iqbal Pasha), Rawal Town (Raja Sakhi Muhammad), XI Star (Nasir Iqbal), Young Capital (Abdul Rauf Mirza).
