LRC to import oats

By Aftab Gilani

LAHORE, July 15: The Lahore Race Club (LRC) has decided to place orders for the import of oats fearing country wide shortage of the grain commodity in the coming days. The LRC had worked out strategy to meet serious threat posed to horse owners by dwindling production of oats, which is an energy diet for running horses.

In all, there are five hundred horses in Lahore alone. This has increased the demand for oats substantially.

Moreover, farmers are reluctant to grow oats because its yield per acre is far less than that of wheat and they find it safer growing wheat as it is more profitable now.

The LRC chairman Tariq Aziz visualising the situation which could be grim in the coming days has decided to import oats from international market.

Meanwhile, the LRC has increased the salary of all syces by Rs 700 per month.

A decision to this effect was taken by the LRC chairman Tariq Aziz.

The syces were drawing rupees 3000 per month by June 30 which has now been raised to rupees 3700 per month.

Of this increase rupees 500 will be paid by the owners of horses while the LRC will grant a subsidy of rupees 200 per syce per month from the Race Club funds.

Over 400 syces will benefit from the LRC chairman’s decision.
