BAHAWALPUR, July 15: Girls captured overall second and third positions in the secondary school certificate (matric) annual examinations, 2005. According to the controller of examinations, at least 57,984 candidates took part in the examination out of which 29,968 were declared successful with a pass percentage of 51.68. All the first three positions were captured by candidates of Bahawalnagar district.
Hafiz Jawad Abdul Raheem (Roll No 59432) of the Government Comprehensive High School, Bahawalpur, stood first with 794 marks while Quratul Ain (55671) of Sir Syed Public High School, Chishtian, and Sumbal Andaleeb Chaudhry (55392) of Bahawalnagar Public School bagged second and third positions by securing 772 and 769 marks, respectively.
SCIENCE GROUP (Boys) : Hafiz Jawad Abdul Raheem (59432) of the Government Comprehensive High School, Bahawalpur, got the first position with 794 marks and Muhammad Wasif (59431) of the Government Comprehensive High School, Bahawalnagar, secured the second slot by obtaining 764 marks. While the third position was shared by two candidates — Iqbal (60839) of Sir Syed Public School, Chishtian, and Zainul Abideen Anwar (77849) of Islamic Model Higher Secondary School, Ahmedpur East, with 755 marks.
SCIENCE (Girls): Quratul Ain (55671) of Sir Syed Public High School, Chishtian, and Sumbal Andaleeb Chaudhry (55392) of Bahawalnagar Public School captured first and second positions with 772 and 769 marks, respectively. While Faryal Ahmed (73578) of Alpina School, Bahawalpur, got the third position by obtaining 764 marks.
HUMANITIES (Boys): Muhammad Jahanzeb (82633) of the Government Technical High School, Bahawalpur, got the first slot by capturing 644 marks, private student Talha Jawad of Bahawalpur (87859) clinched the second position with 637 marks while Muhammad Manzoor (63893) of the Government High School, Chak 340/HR, Bahawalnagar, got the third position with 631 marks.
HUMANITIES (Girls): Maria Ali (77317) of Tameer-i-Nau Public Girls School, Hasilpur, secured the first position by getting 733 marks, two candidates — Ismat Bano of the Government High School, Chak 189/Murad, Hasilpur, and private student Zulekha of Rahim Yar Khan, shared the second position by securing 682 marks, while Rishi Naeem of Model High School, Rahim Yar Khan, got the third position by obtaining 679 marks.
DCO Muhammad Ashraf gave away medals, cash prizes and gifts to position holders.
