LAHORE, July 15: The Pakistan Railways officials will visit the residence of the passengers who were killed or injured in the triple train accidents at Sarhad Railway Station on Wednesday for verification of identity of the heirs of the deceased for payment of compensation announced by the federal railway minister.
A railway announcement said on Friday the officials would be accompanied by the local police officers and one or two residents of the locality for identification of the families/heirs of the deceased.
It said the heirs of a deceased should be in possession of their national identity cards to prove their relationship as wife, father, child, etc.
It said the railway officials would also keep a record of the signatures and witnesses before delivering compensation. The federal minister has announced Rs200,000 each for the families of the deceased and Rs100,000 each for the injured.
The affected people and families of the deceased have been advised to contact divisional superintendents and divisional commercial officers of Sukkur, Karachi, Quetta, Multan, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Peshawar to claim compensation.
