KARACHI: Trauma centre being set up near Civil Hospital
KARACHI, July 15: The establishment of an accident and emergency trauma center (AETC) within the premises of Services Hospital adjacent to the Civil Hospital came under consideration at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman here on Friday. Advisor to Chief Minister for Helath Faisal Malik attended the meeting. The meeting was informed that the trauma centre, to be established with funds from the federal government, would have a capacity of 100 beds and would be equipped with modern facilities.
It was pointed out that services of reputed architects would be acquired for construction of this centre and its establishment would be ensured in a transparent manner.
It was decided that existing Services Hospital would be temporarily shifted to Civil Hospital and the centre would be completed in two years.
Best possible facilities would be provided to patients with the cooperation of donors to run the Centre smoothly.
It was pointed out during the construction of centre, neither the services provided by Services Hospital would be disrupted, nor routine working of chemical examiner and OPD would be affected.
The establishment of two or three more such centres also came under discussion and proposal for setting up a trauma centre adjacent to the Ojha Hospital was also considered.
The federal government has already released an initial amount of Rs 250 million for the Rs 1,400 million Trauma Centre.
The Project Director of the centre informed that the provincial finance minister Sardar Ahmed had shown readiness for bridge financing of Rs 650 million so that work can be completed in time.—APP
