KARACHI, July 14: The 100-bed extension project of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, named as Nasir Hussain Shaheed Block, was inaugurated by Sindh Minister for Planning and Development Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari here on Thursday. The Rs47.244 million project comprised of two 50-bed blocks for male and female patients, 22 flats for staff, OPD block, 16 rooms for consultants, checking rooms, laboratories block, ECG lab, administration block, wards for heart, orthopaedics, eye, and ENT, dispensary, mortuary, kitchen, laundry and garage.
Shoaib Bukhari said this project had been included in the ADP by the government of Sindh in 1997-98, but later it was put on back burner after change of the government. He said, “We came into power in January 2003 and restarted work on the project and today it is being inaugurated.”
Additional Chief Secretary Technical Dr (Capt) Abdul Majid, EDO Health Dr Khalid Shaikh, MS Dr Qaiser Sultan, Dr Imdadullah Siddiqui, Dr Hassan Alam and District Officer Chaudhry Muhammad Ali were also present. —PPI
