DUBLIN, July 13: Scotland beat Ireland by 47 runs on Wednesday to win the ICC Trophy and celebrate qualifying for the 2007 World Cup in style. Both Ireland and Scotland had already made sure of their places in the 2007 World Cup in the Caribbean along with Bermuda, Canada and Holland.
Batting first Scotland amassed 324 for eight wickets with R. Watson unlucky to miss the coveted three figures by six runs when he got out for 94. D.Brown (59) and D.Watts (54) chipped in with useful fifities that ensured Scotland post a match-winning total.
Ireland despite defiant knocks by E.Joyce (81) and J.Bray (72) ended up 277 for nine in their allotted 50 overs to fell short of the target by 47 runs.
