Navy names Zahir as skipper

LAHORE, July 13: International Zahir Ahmed will lead the 19- member Pakistan Navy team in the second stage of the national football Challenge Cup in Group-I which will be held at the Panthers Sports Complex from Friday.

Zahir was the member of the Pakistan team which won gold medal in the last SAF Games in Islamabad.

Squad: Zahir Ahmed (captain), Fida Hussain, Muhammad Saleem Junior, Muhammad Saleem Senior, Nasir Hussain, Muhammad Shafiq Senior, Muhammad Shafiq Junior, Atif Rehman, Muhammad Ramzan, Jabbar Hussain, Nomi Martin, Muhammad Basharat, Ishaq Ahmed, Zahoor Ahmed, Muhammad Nadeem, Nazakat Ali, Naik Muhammad, Muhammad Wasim, Farrukh Rasool.

Meanwhile, Wohaib Club, Lahore will meet Panthers Club, Faisalabad in the playoff match at the latter’s ground on Thursday.

The winners will qualify for the second stage of the Challenge Cup. Wapda, KRL, Navy, Police and Karachi Electric Supply Corporation are the other teams of Group-I. The Group-II matches will be held at Army Stadium, Rawalpindi.
