KARACHI: Muttahida activist shot dead

KARACHI, July 13: An activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement was shot dead by unknown persons in Azizabad early on Wednesday morning. Body of Adnan Aziz, 30, was found by the police in Block 8 of Azizabad. According to the victim’s brother Faisal Aziz, who later lodged an FIR against unknown persons, Adnan had gone out of the house around 11am, but did not return. Adnan was a resident of Block 12, Azizabad.

Police said a bullet hit Adnan which pierced through his temple.

Police shifted the body to Abbasi Hospital for post-mortem.

DROWNING: Two students were swept away by strong sea waves while they were trying to rescue a man on Hawkesbay beach on Wednesday.

Officials of the area emergency rescue centre said Amjad and Qasim Rafiq were fishing near Kanupp when Qasim fell into sea.

Some students, who were present at a nearby hut, rushed for the help of the victim, but two of them also fell into sea.

The two students, in their early 20s, Ehsan Ellahi and Omar Mughvi, drowned into the rough sea. Qasim, however, managed to swim safely.

The body of Ehsan Ellahi was fished out by divers, but Qmar’s body could not be recovered till filing of this report.

Both Ehsan and Omar were O’ Level students. The entire family of Ehsan is settled in Saudi Arabia. He used to live with his uncle in Boating Basin area. Omar was a resident of PECHS.
