KARACHI, July 13: Legal fraternity in Pakistan and India on Wednesday pledged to continue sharing ideas and views to foster friendship and peace. The pledge came at a reception hosted by Sindh Bar Council for the visiting Indian Bar Council Chairman Jagan Nath Patnaik and his delegation. The 12-member IBC delegation was warmly welcomed at the SBC office in the Sindh High Court annexe on arrival.

“The aim of our visit is to exchange ideas and views to promote friendship between the two countries,” Mr Patnaik said, adding: “This is beginning, not the end.”

He said that peoples of the two countries should sit together for resolving all their problems. He called for efforts to narrow down differences between the two sides, and in this context urged the legal fraternity in Pakistan and India to play due role for restoration of peace in the region.

SBC Vice-Chairperson Noor Naz Agha, welcoming the guests, called for collective efforts to bring the two countries closer to each other. She stressed the need for resolving the longstanding Kashmir issue which was the main hurdle in this regard.

She said that once the issue was resolved, the two countries could be able to bring prosperity to their people and development to their countries, besides concentrating on better in health care, education and welfare sectors.
