KARACHI, July 12: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement on Tuesday kicked off its mass contact campaign to solicit their support for the emphatic victory of Haq Parast nominees in the upcoming local bodies elections in the metropolis. Corner meetings were held in different parts of Nazimabad and Gulbahar are in which coordination committee members, MQM ministers, advisors, justices for peace and other office-bearers of the party participated and addressed people in shopping areas, hotels and bus stops.

Deputy convenor of MQM Dr Farooq Sattar addressed corner meetings in Nazimabad, Gulbahar, Gulshan-i-Ali unit 183, 181 and 182 in which a large number of women, elders and youngsters attended. In charge MQM coordination committee, Anwar Alam, Waseem Aftab, Israrul Ibad, Moeen Khan, in charge Liaqutabad town Khurshid Mukarram and others were also present.

Addressing these meetings, Dr Farooq Sattar said that the MQM-supported candidates would fully participate in the elections.

He alleged that some so-called religious parties were trying to vitiate the climate because they had seen writing on the wall and were afraid of facing the defeat.

Dr Sattar said that these parties were hurling various accusations against the MQM, but hoped that people would see through their game and won’t be misled.
