KARACHI: Pension issue resolved

Published July 12, 2005

KARACHI, July 11: The lingering issue of pension of more than 1,000 ex-employees of town municipal administrations in Sindh has been resolved. The pension amount, over Rs120 million, would soon be disbursed among 1,042 retired employees by Sindh Adviser on Local Government Wasim Akhtar. According to sources, the aggrieved retired employees of nine TMAs had been running from pillar to post since long to get their pension released. However, the matter was being delayed on one pretext or the other.

Finally, a group of the ex-employees approached the adviser and apprised him of their ordeal. The adviser took up the matter with the finance department and got the issue resolved.

Sources told Dawn that Mr Akhtar had directed the officials concerned to immediately prepare pay-orders so that he could personally hand over the same to all these pensioners.

Meanwhile, the adviser has directed accounts departments of all TMAs, as well as the provincial local government department, to ensure preparation of employees’ dues, much before their attaining superannuation age.
