LOCH LOMOND (Scotland), July 10: South African Tim Clark holed a 20-foot birdie putt at the last to clinch his third European Tour title by two shots at the Scottish Open on Sunday.
The 29-year-old from Durban fired a four-under-par 67 to hold off the challenge of Dutchman Maarten Lafeber and Britain’s Darren Clarke, finishing on 19-under 265 at a sun-drenched Loch Lomond.
Lafeber returned a 69 for a share of second place with Ryder Cup player Clarke, who shot a 66.
Lafeber had cause to celebrate more than just a runner-up spot, though, by booking his place at next week’s British Open by finishing as the highest non-exempt player at Loch Lomond.
Britain’s Ian Poulter fired a best-of-the-day 65 to secure fourth place at 16 under after charging up the leaderboard with seven birdies and a solitary bogey at the par-four 16th.

LEWIS STAYS IN FRONT
SILVIS (Illinois): With Michelle Wie having missed the cut, the focus of attention shifted to J.L. Lewis as he carded a two-under-par 69 to surge three shots clear after the third round of the John Deere Classic on Saturday.
Much of the buzz that had surrounded the warm-up event for the British Open at St Andrews disappeared on Friday when the American teenager failed in her bid to become the first female in 60 years to make the cut at a PGA Tour event.
American journeyman Lewis, 44, who claimed the first of his two tour titles at the John Deere in 1999, stepped into the spotlight by recording a 15-under-par aggregate of 198.
Fellow countrymen Hank Kuehne (67) and Craig Bowden (68) and Swede Richard S Johnson (68) shared second place on 201.
