Woman appeals for release of husband

Bureau Report

HYDERABAD, July 10: Shazia Soomro, wife of Saleem Soomro of Tando Mohammad Khan town, has appealed to the nationalist parties and human rights organizations to save the life of her husband who, she alleged, is being tortured in police custody.

She was speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Sunday.

She said it was known to all and sundry that the state agencies had launched an operation against activists of the Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz.

She said at 3:30 am on Sunday, the agencies violated the sanctity of Chadar and Chardiwari and arrested her husband who was subjected to violence.

She said her husband might be implicated in false cases.

She recalled that before the arrest of her husband, JSSM leaders, Mazhar Bhatti, Imran Laghari and Raifque Laghari were also arrested from Tando Muhammad Khan but officially they were shown arrested from Karachi and implicated in false cases.

She said similarly another JSMM leader Samiullah Kalhoro was also picked up but he was not shown arrested and subjected to torture and killed.
