Creation of districts a ‘poll-fraud move’
LARKANA, July 10: The Sindh National Front has termed creation of new districts, talukas and union councils in Sindh a first step towards rigging local body elections.
In a resolution adopted at its central committee meeting on Sunday, the party discussed the prevailing political situation in the country.
SNF vice-chairman Allah Warayo Soomro presided over the meeting.
The meeting alleged that creation of new districts was aimed at to further chain people to bow before chieftains and landlords whereby the government would ensure the easy win of its candidates.
The meeting said when the River Indus in past had successfully passed 1,200,000 cusecs of water then why the rulers were crying over flood of 400,000 cusecs in the river.
It indicated that huge funds allocated for strengthening flood protective bunds were siphoned off and work was shown only in papers.
The meeting said it led to weakening of flood embankments and the government was raising hue and cry over unnecessarily flooding of kutcho and by painting an untrue picture of water wastage justifying the construction of Kalabagh dam.
It was 1997’s caretaker government of Mumtaz Ali Bhutto that had placed objections regarding the NFC award on record, the meeting said.
It said now the Sindh government following the same track had stood by the idea of distribution on the multiple basis.
The meeting said the government had inflicted heavy financial losses on the Sindh government by delaying the award.
Holding all ills the result of wrong system in the country, the SNF supported 1940 resolution and called for new elections for the constituent assembly.
The meeting rejected government’s tall claims of flourishing economy and said rising graph of poverty, unemployment, bad law and order situation, inflation had worsened peoples life.
Mere figures of the World Bank developed under umbrella of the White House would not be the remedy of people’s sufferings, the SNF central committee said.
SUICIDE: Ashique Hussain Lorar, 33, committed suicide in Khair Mohammed village near Qambar by shooting himself with a pistol on Sunday.
The deceased was married and unemployed since long which frustrated him and ended his life, sources said.
ACCIDENT: A young boy, Athar Ali Brohi, 18, was run over and killed by a bus near Drigh village some 40 kilometers off here.
In another accident a villager was killed and around 20 were injured when a bus dashed against a bridge near Ratodero on Friday.
The driver of a transport bus heading to Mohammedpur Odho village lost control over the steering after its tie rod broke into two near Kalo Machhi village some 60 kilometres off here.
It dashed against the railings of the bridge where a boy, Karim, was sitting.
He died on the spot while around 20 passengers were injured.
The injured — Ghous Bakhsh, Sikandar, Mohammed Bakhsh, Ghulam Farid Jeho, Gazanffar Channo and Allah Dino -– were admitted to the CMCH Larkana and Taluka hospital Ratodero.
