Ghori on course for hat trick
KARACHI, July 9: Ghori, the nine-year old bay horse, looks certain to clinch honours when the Summer Gymkhana race meeting begins at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday. Appearing in the first race of the afternoon, Ghori, ridden by jockey Riaz Muhammad, enjoys a good track record having won the last two races after finishing second on June 19. As many as 16 horses’ are in the fray for the battle.
Piyari Mehbooba, who had to be content with second position behind Ghori in the last meeting on July 3, should occupy second place followed by Jaguar.
All in all, seven races, all spread over five furlongs, have been chalked out for the day. The first race begins at 2.30pm.
Trained by Taj Muhammad, Fascinate is tipped to dominate the second race with as many as thirteen runners in the field. Ultimate Victory and three-year old filly Jet Zone should fight for places.
The dark bay horse, Free Spirit, who sprinted home to victory on June 26, should annex the third race. Though Big Daddy had clinched honours in the last race, the former had a better chance in view of his better timings. Big Daddy and Sea Biscuit are expected to battle for second and third place.
Thanks Naeem is our favourite to win the fourth race to be featured by seventeen runners. Order Of The Day and Cannon Ball should follow the winner for a place.
Haseena-e-Arab is poised to win the fifth race of the afternoon. She had to be content with second place behind Patricia in the last race. Princess Javeria and Snake River will fight for the place.
Fantastic Again had bright chances to run away with the sixth race. He should be followed by Arab Hi Arab and Sweet Grandy.
The last race is expected to be a keenly contested affair between Bahar-e-Arab, Scluptor, Killer Instincts and Donatello. The former, is however, fancied to win.
