ISLAMABAD, July 9: The Pakistan Housing Authority (PHA) has handed over to people all the housing units constructed at prime locations in the federal capital. The authority had initiated 18 projects at different locations in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar to construct high-quality apartments at affordable prices, and so far it had completed 12 projects.

According to PHA sources, out of the completed projects, four have been handed over to the people whereas eight are in the process of being handed over.

The sources said provision of utility services like electricity, gas and water were the main impediments to early handing over of the housing units.

However, the PHA is pursuing the issue with the organizations concerned so that apartments could be handed over to the people at the earliest. They said to ensure world class standards and professional excellence, PHA’s housing programme had been perceived by leading designers and implemented through known engineering consultants and construction companies of the country.

The Pakistan Housing Authority, a subsidiary of the ministry of housing and works, has been established to undertake construction of approximately 4,500 apartments at affordable prices.

The objective of the organization is to help develop modern community living with all comforts and amenities of the 21st century at affordable cost for middle and low income groups. —APP
