Hasba Bill to paralyse judicial system’

ISLAMABAD, July 9 (APP): The proposed Hasba Bill in the NWFP Assembly would create further problems in the dispensation of justice by paralyzing the present judicial system in the country. Aurat Foundation Director Naeem Mirza talking to the agency here on Saturday said tabling of Hasba Bill was tantamount to parallel judicial system in the country.

Expressing his reservations, he said the proposed bill would harm individual’s freedom by allowing government officials’ interference in the private matters of the people.

He said since Hasba Bill was a controversial law, therefore, a public debate was a must to highlight its pros and cons.

He said no law should be passed hastily and a consensus of civil society is must for making new laws particularly in laws relating to civil liberties.

He said the Council of the Islamic Ideology had also demanded to review some points of Hasba Bill.—APP
