Zimbabwe ODIs put on holdby UCB

JOHANNESBURG, July 6: A three match one-day series between South Africa and Zimbabwe later this month has been put on hold, United Cricket Board of South Africa said on Wednesday.

UCB chief executive Gerald Majola said that new coach Mickey Arthur had requested the “warm-up” matches for the end of July.

“It’s definitely no longer possible to play those matches in Zimbabwe at the end of the month, but we are endeavouring to play them later on, hopefully in September,” Majola said.

Arthur’s first engagement according to the ICC’s tour schedule is against New Zealand at home in October/November.

Captain Graeme Smith still has two matches to sit out as part of a four-match ban received in the West Indies for slow over rates.—Reuters
