Sectoral road-maps

Published July 7, 2005

KARACHI, July 6: Export Promotion Bureau Chairman Tariq Ikram has said that the quantum jump in exports is only possible when there is a road-map for each sector envisaging all facilities, practical ways to remove irritants and improvement of supply chain so that goods can be exported abroad as per demand of the consumers.

Addressing a seminar on “Long-term financing scheme for export-oriented projects”, organized jointly by Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the EPB here on Wednesday, Mr Ikram said that doubling of exports was not that difficult if proper facilities, infrastructure and required hi-tech equipment was available. But this all could only be covered if a road-map was prepared for each sector and reasons for non-implementation were ascertained and strictly pursued at the high level.—APP
