EDINBURGH, July 6: WTO leader Supachai Panitchpakdi warned on Wednesday there was “no agreement in sight” for removing the Western farm subsidies that present trade barriers to African and developing countries.
Supachai, the director general of the World Trade Organization who was speaking ahead of the Group of Eight summit in Gleneagles, Scotland, said a “serious formula” for reducing agricultural subsidies “is still far ahead of us.”—AFP
