KARACHI: Writers’ welfare fund gets Rs2 million


KARACHI, June 5: The Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy, Dr Hamida Khuhro, being the chairperson of Sindhi Adabi Board, ordered for the establishment of ‘Writers Welfare Fund’ by placing initially an amount of Rs2 million. The fund will be utilized for the rehabilitation of writers’ community on deserving case basis.

Dr Khuhro also ordered for the establishment of a hall/auditorium at the headquarters of the Sindhi Adabi Board (SAB) to facilitate the community in research works.

She appreciated the performance of SAB Secretary Inam Shaikh with regard to the publication of valuable books of the Sindhi literature and hoped that the board would serve the writers community in a more meaningful manner.

Dr Khuhro further appreciated the idea of Mr Shaikh with regard to the launching of a website of the Sindhi Adabi Board and said that the Sindh chief minister would be requested for its launching.

She appealed to the philanthropists and lovers of the Sindhi literature to contribute to the said fund, so that the deserving writers and intellectuals could be given all possible help.—PPI
